U.S. Congressman Moran Congratulates Shen Zhou International Film Festival

The 2014 Shen Zhou International Film Festival was held at the Angelika Film Center  on July 22,  2014.  On the same day, Shen Zhou Film Studio celebrated it’s 8th anniversary. Shen Zhou Film Studio also received a congratulatory letter from Congressman Moran for the special occasion.

Shen Zhou Thanks Audience for Support with Free Screening of New Documentary Film

The 2014 Shen Zhou International Film Festival was succesfully held on July 22nd in Virginia (USA).  To fulfill the audience’s hope that more people will be able to see these movies, Shen Zhou screened them at the film festival. To thank the audience for support, Shen Zhou Film Studio decided to debut its newest film, “The Stories of Two Artists,” on Shen Zhou Web Theater.

2014 Shen Zhou Film Festival-A4 Poster-06_RGB_smallerOn July 22nd, Shen Zhou International Film Festival was held at the Angelika Film Center. Four films, including movies and documentaries, about cultivation stories of Falun Gong practitioners were shown. The first movie “Shake the World” revealed the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who cling to their beliefs and stand up for their convictions in mainland China. The second movie “Forever” tells the true story of a young practitioner’s mental and physical changes after practicing Falun Gong. However, he was killed one day before his wedding, leaving behind his grieving fiancée and parents.

In one of the most touching scene of Shenzhou Film Production Company’s new movie, “Forever,” the leading female character, Jing Yuan, stands by the sea, smiling despite her sadness. Hopeful, she says, “I wish I would have never grown up.” Our reporter interviewed the young Dadao Fazi, a Japanese student and actress, who plays Jing Yuan in “Forever.”

Reporter: When did you come across this story?

Ye Yuan: I received the script in the spring of 2008. When I finished reading it, it was one or two o’clock in the morning, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I read it again. I remember I read it three times that night. I was really moved by my character’s kindness, and, more importantly, his selfless generosity. Yongcheng’s story is actually inspired from a real person, Zhigang Zuo. I heard about him a long time ago. I felt that although I never suffered as much as he did, and I am younger and more inexperienced than he was, there is common ground between us. We both believe in truthfulness, compassion and tolerance. So even though there were great challenges in playing this role, I was confident, because my heart could connect with it. read more
